What colour to expect: on its own indigo gives a cool blue-black and can look blue on grey or light hair, so it is used after henna (two steps) or mixed with henna (one step, for brown). The shade settles over 48 hours and deepens with repeat applications.
How to use: apply henna first and rinse. Mix indigo fresh with warm water and a pinch of salt, apply within 10–15 minutes and leave for 1–2 hours. Rinse with water only. Patch-test 48 hours before first use.
Common uses: natural black or dark brown hair colour without chemical dye, and covering grey or white hair after henna.
