Grey and white hair
- Henna alone colours grey and white hair bright orange-copper, not brown or black.
- For brown to black grey coverage, apply henna first, then indigo — the two-step method. The Natural Henna + Indigo Combo packs both powders for this.
- Greys take colour more slowly than the rest of the hair, so full, even coverage usually builds over two or three applications. Leave henna on greys for 3–4 hours. Roots can be touched up every 3–4 weeks.
What colour to expect
- Henna alone gives an orange to reddish-brown (copper) tone that deepens over 24–48 hours. Henna cannot lighten hair.
- For brown, henna and indigo can be mixed and applied once. For black, apply henna first and indigo second.
- Results depend on the starting hair colour and build over repeat applications.
- On chemically coloured or bleached hair, wait 2–4 weeks after the last chemical treatment and do a strand test first.
How to use, in brief
- How much: about 100 g for short hair, 200 g for shoulder length, 300 g or more for long hair.
- Henna: mix with warm water (or weak tea) to a yoghurt-like paste, rest 2–4 hours for dye release, apply for 1–3 hours, rinse with water only, and skip shampoo for 24–48 hours.
- Indigo: mix fresh with warm water and a pinch of salt, apply within 10–15 minutes over henna'd hair, leave 1–2 hours.
- Do a patch test 48 hours before first use of any hair colour. Do a strand test first on bleached or chemically treated hair.
- Natural Henna is also used for mehndi (body art) on hands, and for colouring beards.

Common questions
- Will henna turn my hair orange? Freshly rinsed henna looks bright copper and deepens over 24–48 hours. For brown or black, follow henna with indigo.
- Does henna cover grey hair? Henna alone turns greys orange-copper. Henna followed by indigo covers greys in brown to black, building over two or three applications.
- Can I get black hair with henna alone? No. Pure henna gives reddish-brown only. A single "henna" that turns hair black quickly usually contains synthetic dye such as PPD.
- Should I mix henna and indigo together? For brown, one mixed application works. For black, henna first and indigo second gives the more reliable result.
- How long should henna stay on hair? 1–3 hours for most hair, 3–4 hours on grey hair. Overnight does not give deeper colour.
- How long does henna colour last? It is permanent on the hair it coats; it fades gradually and grows out rather than washing out.
- Does Naturenna use PPD? No. Naturenna's henna and indigo contain no PPD, no metallic salts and no synthetic dyes.
- Is a patch test needed? Yes — do a patch test 48 hours before first use of any hair colour product.
